What do past AWAL participants have to
say about their experiences? |
| |
- I learned that employers want to see specific qualities
in prospective employees—they want people who are self-motivated,
have a good work ethic and good attitude, are problem solvers
with divergent thinking skills, and have the ability to
apply knowledge without a lot of supervision.
- This was a great opportunity to talk to employers and
employees about the skills needed to succeed in their workplace!
Sharing of information was a way for us to gain insight
into a number of businesses without visiting each one.
- I think it is really valuable for teachers to participate
in projects such as these. Through visiting work sites,
we are able to see applications of math and science that
we can pass on to our students. Too often we think of narrow
job descriptions, such as chemist, mathematician but there
are so many jobs out there that require math and science
outside of traditional roles.
- It was terrific to see how education and business can
work together to help students see the relevance of their
work in schools to future jobs they may be hired for.
